On Learning You're Pregnant

It's all very surreal, let me tell you. I guess in a way pregnancy felt like one of those things that happened to everybody else, but not to me.

It's not that we didn't want kids, or that Chris and I aren't TOTALLY ecstatic about becoming parents and a million other things. It's just that, in a way, I don't know if we would have ever felt "ready" for it.

You always wish you had more money in the bank, more time, and that, well, you felt more prepared to be soley responsible for the life of another human being. No pressure. Truth be told, however, I am so glad the timing was God's and not ours. Ultimately trusting in His provision, guidance, and goodness, also means trusting in His timing. Certainly He makes no mistakes.

So here's to trusting, learning, and leaning on Him to be sufficient in all our foibles, faults, and many newbie-parent moments to come.

Amen.
